Causes of Varicose Veins

Of the many existing genetic or environmental factors that lead to the degradation of venous valves the following are most common:

Which laser is used in the treatment of varicose veins?

Treatment of varicose veins uses laser Nd: YAG. The laser beam in Nd: YAG (1064 nm) is focused on hemoglobin. Deformation (coagulation)of vessels ensures their treatment.

Session Durations and Number of Sessions

Sessions vary according to size of area to be treated from 15 minutes to 1 hour. Successful results can be achieved after 1-3 sessions having 4-6 weeks’ intervals.

Advice that should be followed after the treatment

Light burning and redness of the skin, and scab formation can be experienced after the treatment. Therefore:

- For several weeks, the patient should not be exposed to sunlight or visit a solarium, and if the sun cannot be avoided, a cream with a high sun protection factor must be used.

- Utmost attention should be paid to water temperature in the shower; water should be as cool as it is possible for the patient to bear.
